Saudi Arabia has dismissed US claims that Riyadh would use its leverage to pressure China to approve new sanctions against Iran.
According to the Saudi official news agency, SPA, an official in Riadh rejected a claim by US Defense Secretary Robert Gates on the issue of pressuring China to support fresh sanctions against Iran, IRNA reported on Friday.
The report indicates that the two sides did not even discuss the matter during Gates’ visit to Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Gates had said that the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia had expressed willingness to push Beijing to support sanctions against Iran.

Crowley described the nearly 45-minute phone conversation in unusually undiplomatic terms, signaling that the close allies are facing their deepest crisis in two decades after the embarrassment suffered by Vice President Biden this week when Israel announced during his visit that it plans to build 1,600 housing units in a disputed area of Jerusalem…..
“The announcement of the settlements on the very day that the vice president was there was insulting,” Clinton told CNN on Friday.

Its about time the world sees what they are like, and not a moment to soon. Wise words. If ever there was a time for ‘Ghandi’ style passive resistance it is now while the attention of the world is on the occupied territories.
Recent events, like the passport scandal, have brought an unprecedented level of awareness of what is going on in that part of the world. It would be tragic if a few militants were to undo it all now, with the end in sight.

No, Russia and China would do nothing if the Zionists were to attack Iran. You shouldn’t give much thought to the Israelis attacking Iran militarily, they wont do it because Iran could defeat them. Of course the question then becomes would the US come to the aid of the Israelis? The answer is becoming less certain with the behavior of the Israelis. American politicians realize that this would create a very severe situation here in the US and could spark a serious revolt.

Thank you for your input. I have friends with family in Iran and I worry for there safety. I really hope Israel doesn’t attack Iran. It’s bad enough what they are doing to the people of Palestine. Do you think Russia and China would attack Israel if they go to war with Iran?

Thanks and I will followup on this. There is no doubt with me that Dick Cheney, Richard Pearle and other Neocons are directly tied to the 9/11 attacks. Their agenda is to prevent these detainees/prisoners from talking. Hiding them away in a military tribunal would accomplish that. Obama will face enemies in his own political party in carrying out trials in civilian courts.

I hope China laughed in that brits face!…We need to focus on the issue of how the use of sanctions (especially economic and trade) historically do nothing to resolve problems and in the end it’s the children who pay the price.
